Thus, comets are – with few sporadic exceptions – celestial objects that always return at periodic intervals; nevertheless, their orbital periods are very different. Long-period tail stars have orbital periods around our Sun of more than 200 years, while others – as already mentioned by you and me – require many millions of years for their return, whereby several hundred million years are not uncommon. Opposing these are the short-period comets, which come into the vicinity of the Sun and the Earth very frequently. Various of these short-period comets were influenced by the masses of the SOL planets as well as by the mass of the Sun in such a way that they no longer reach any further than into the proximity of the orbit of the planet Jupiter, where they then make a reversal and begin their inner system journey anew. In contrast to the planets themselves, which move in the so-called main plane of the solar system, there are all kinds of orbital inclinations with comets. And it must also be said that the tail stars, in comparison to planets and moons, are very small and low-mass celestial objects and that their diameters only range from a few hundred meters to about 70 kilometers. This is under normal conditions, when it doesn’t concern a so-called giant or super giant, which can be the size of the Earth or even larger. The actual core consists of rock, dust, and frozen water, as well as ammonia and methane, etc. Cometary structures are only visible as a result of their tails, for if this wasn’t the case, then one could not see them in dark space. If an object comes into the vicinity of the Sun – approximately, depending on its size, within 4 to 12 astronomical units – then the gases of the comet evaporate and form its tail, which can be thousands, hundreds of thousands, or even hundreds of millions of kilometers long, depending on the size and composition of the comet. Also, the diameter of the tail can be up to 100,000 kilometers and more. A mixture of gas and dust, etc. allows the comet to appear as a vague, small spot reflecting in the sunlight; however, the gaseous components in the spectrum of the comet’s coma also have their own luminosity. If the comet comes closer and closer to the Sun, then the radiation pressure and the “solar wind” naturally become stronger and blow the dust and gas away from the comet, whereby the coma or the tail of the comet forms, and indeed, opposite to the Sun, for the particle flow encounters the comet away from the central star. In this way, it is also possible that despite the very low, intrinsic density of the comet and through its own luminous, gaseous components and through the reflection of the sunlight, this begins to shine and becomes visible to the human eye. What is still to be mentioned is that the tail components are stimulated to illumination by the high-energy components of the solar radiation. That is what I learned from Ptaah on my Great Journey.

Also: In jedem Jahr werden praktisch Kometen entdeckt, doch sind die meisten davon nur mit Feldstechern oder Teleskopen, jedoch nicht von blossem Auge sichtbar. Kometen werden auch Haarsterne oder Schweifsterne genannt, und gelegentlich tauchen solche am Himmel auf, die ein wirklich phantastisches Schauspiel bieten und auch über längere Zeit hinweg am Firmament beobachtet werden können. Von alters her galten Schweifsterne als spektakuläre und sensationelle Himmelserscheinungen, wobei allein schon deren Anblick am Tag- oder Nachthimmel ungeheures Aufsehen erregte und oft gar panische Angst auslöste. Betrachtet man die Kometen von der Antike aus, dann stellt man fest, dass diese noch nicht als Himmelskörper betrachtet wurden, denn man schrieb diese schweifziehenden Erscheinungen der Lufthülle zu, und zwar als ähnliches Phänomen dessen, vergleichbar den Blitzen und Wolken, dem Donner und Regen sowie dem Hagel und Schnee. Studiert man den ‹Almagest› – eine Verstümmelung der Übersetzung des arabischen Titels ‹al-magisti› –, das berühmteste griechische astronomische Handbuch des Ptolemäus, dann findet man darin nicht ein einziges Vorkommen von Kometen. In der Zeit dann, als Kometenerscheinungen am Himmel für den Menschen eine besondere Bedeutung gewannen, da machte man die Schweifsterne für alle Geschehen auf der Erde verantwortlich. Es herrschte der irrige Glaube vor – der sich bei irren, falschen Astrologen, Unkern, Miesemachern und sonstigen Verrückten und Wahngläubigen auch heute und auch in Zukunft noch bemerkbar macht –, dass die Kometen sowohl für das Schicksal des einzelnen Menschen verantwortlich seien, wie aber auch für das Schicksal ganzer Völker und der Erde selbst sowie für das Klima und Naturkatastrophen usw. Allgemein galten die Kometen – wie auch heute noch bei den Irren – als grosse und bösartige Unglücksbringer. So erweckten die grossen, leuchtenden und drohend anmutenden Schweife der Haarsterne Angst und Schrecken. In wahngläubiger Weise wurde von den stark dem Gott-Wahnglauben verfallenen Menschen angenommen, dass es sich bei den Kometen um ‹Zuchtruten Gottes› handle, die der Welt und den Menschen ‹unter dem Monde› zugeordnet wurden. Erst mit dem spektakulären Kometen von 1577, der als sogenannter Lichtriese auch bei vollem Sonnenschein zu sehen war, änderte sich etwas an diesem Wahnglauben, und zwar durch den dänischen Hofastronomen Tycho Brahe, der den Beweis dafür lieferte, dass es sich bei den Schweifsternen um Himmelskörper handelte, die ihre Bahn weit ausserhalb der Mondbahn durch das SOL-System ziehen. Damit war aber die Form der Bahn noch lange nicht erkannt, denn erst über 100 Jahre danach gelang eine nähere Bestimmung durch einen gewissen Gottfried Kirch. Dieser Mann war es dann auch, der den ‹Zerstörer› beobachtete, wobei er ihn mit einem Teleskop entdeckte, was auch in der Geschichte der Kometenentdeckung erstmalig geschah. Das war im Jahre 1680. Bei diesem Durchzug war der ‹Zerstörer› sehr lange sichtbar, und zwar vom 14. November 1680 bis zum 19. März 1681. Er zog auch einen gigantischen Schweif von 80° Länge hinter sich her, was einer typischen Erscheinung dessen entspricht, wenn ein Komet sehr dicht an der Sonnenoberfläche vorbeizieht. So hat mir Ptaah auf der Grossen Reise die Sache erklärt. Entdeckt hat Kirch den ‹Zerstörer› nicht absichtlich, sondern nur durch eine glückliche Fügung, als er den Planeten Mars beobachtete. Nun, die SOL-System-Kometen, die auch als ‹kosmische Leuchtfeuer› bezeichnet werden, unterliegen den SOL-System-mechanischen-Gesetzen, und sie sind feste Mitglieder unseres Sonnensystems. Dies auch dann, wenn sie sich oft sehr weit in den Weltenraum jenseits des fernsten Planeten Pluto in die beiden Gürtel hinausbewegen, woher sie ursprünglich gekommen sind resp. kommen. Auf ihren geschlossenen Bahnen kehren sie früher oder später immer wieder in das innere Sonnensystem zurück – oftmals auch in gefährliche Nähe der Erde –, eben oft erst nach Jahrhunderten, Jahrtausenden oder nach vielen Jahrmillionen. Im 19. Jahrhundert, als die Erdenmenschen astrophysikalische Untersuchungsmethoden erfanden, wurden erstmals in bezug der Natur der Kometen auch Einzelheiten erkannt und bekannt. So wurde immer klarer, dass Schweifsterne eigentlich nur verhältnismässig kleine Körper sind, die jedoch sehr dramatische Veränderungen durchmachen, wenn sie in Sonnennähe kommen und durch deren Strahlungen die Ausbildung der Kometenschweife erfolgt, eben das eigentliche Merkmal oder Wahrzeichen der Haarsterne. Also zählen Kometen zu den Kleinobjekten unseres Sonnensystems. Im Gegensatz zu den Planeten bewegen sich die Kometengebilde meist auf sehr langgestreckten elliptischen Bahnen mit Exzentrizitäten. Somit sind Kometen – mit wenigen sporadischen Ausnahmen – in periodischen Abständen immer wiederkehrende Himmelsobjekte, wobei deren Umlaufzeiten jedoch sehr unterschiedlich sind. Langperiodische Schweifsterne weisen eine Umlaufzeit um unsere Sonne von mehr als 200 Jahren auf, während andere – wie bereits von dir und mir erwähnt – viele Millionen Jahre für ihre Wiederkehr benötigen, wobei mehrere hundert Millionen Jahre keine Seltenheit sind. Gegensätzlich dazu stehen die kurzperiodischen Kometen, die sehr häufig in Sonnen- und Erdnähe kommen. Diverse dieser Kurzperiodischen wurden durch die Massen der SOL-Planeten sowie durch die Masse der Sonne derart beeinflusst, dass sie nicht mehr weiter als bis in die Nähe der Bahn des Planeten Jupiter gelangen, wo sie dann Umkehr halten und wieder ihre systeminnere Reise von neuem antreten. Im Gegensatz zu den Planeten selbst, die sich in der sogenannten Hauptebene des Sonnensystems bewegen, gibt es bei den Kometen alle erdenklichen Bahnneigungen. Und dabei muss auch gesagt sein, dass die Schweifsterne im Vergleich zu Planeten und Monden sehr kleine und massearme Himmelsobjekte sind und dass deren Durchmesser im Bereich von wenigen hundert Metern nur bis etwa 70 Kilometer reicht. Dies im Normalfall, wenn es sich nicht um einen sogenannten Riesen oder Überriesen handelt, der erdgross oder noch grösser sein kann. Der eigentliche Kern besteht aus Gestein sowie Staub und gefrorenem Wasser, so aber auch aus Ammoniak und Methan usw. Sichtbar sind die Kometengebilde nur infolge ihres Schweifes, denn wäre dieser nicht, könnte man sie im dunklen Weltenraum nicht sehen. Wenn die Objekte in die Nähe der Sonne kommen, etwa – je nach Grösse – auf 4 bis 12 Astronomische Einheiten heran, dann verdampfen die Gase des Kometen und bilden den Schweif, der Tausende, Hundertausende oder gar Hunderte Millionen von Kilometern lang sein kann, eben je nach Grösse und Beschaffenheit des Kometen. Auch der Durchmesser des Schweifes kann bis zu 100 000 Kilometer und mehr betragen. Gasgemisch und Staub usw. lassen den Kometen erst nur als im Sonnenlicht reflektierendes, verschwommenes Fleckchen erscheinen, doch haben die gasförmigen Bestandteile im Spektrum der Kometenkoma auch ein Eigenleuchten. Gelangt der Komet immer mehr in Sonnennähe, dann wird der Strahlungsdruck und der ‹Sonnenwind› natürlich stärker und bläst vom Kometen den Staub und die Gase weg, wobei die Koma resp. der Schweif des Kometen entsteht, und zwar entgegengesetzt der Sonne, weil der Teilchenstrom ja vom Zentralgestirn her auf den Kometen trifft. Auf diese Weise ist es auch möglich, dass trotz der sehr geringen Eigendichte des Kometen und durch dessen eigenleuchtende gasförmige Bestandteile und durch die Reflexion des Sonnenlichtes, dieser zu leuchten beginnt und für das menschliche Auge sichtbar wird. Zu erwähnen ist noch, dass die Schweifbestandteile durch die energiereichen Bestandteile der Sonnenstrahlung zum Leuchten angeregt werden. Das ist das, was ich von Ptaah auf meiner Grossen Reise gelernt habe.
